Roots & Wings

Your generosity made it possible for Rodina to help two homes for children living without parents in 2021. We were able to send $1,000 to each home to support them.

 27 February 2022 | 6-7pm | ​Nikola Rahnev | Creator of Gorata.bg Initiative

 

Nikola is most recognizable for his creation of the largest volunteer initiative for planting new forests and trees in Bulgaria. 

The initiative started in 2011, and to date have planted 1.6millions trees with the help of volunteers. His target is set for 3 million trees to be planted by end of 2025.

"I hope people know me as a good person," said Nikola Rakhnev, the creator of the Gorata.bg initiative, who was named "Awakener of the Year 2019" by the Bulgarian National Radio earlier this month.

 27 March 2022 | 6-7pm | Margarita Dimitrova| Executive Director of the Apollonia Foundation

Margarita graduated from the state Academy of Music specializing as an Pedagogy at the Faculty of Theoretical Studies and Opera Singing.

Since 1986 she has been the artistic director of the foundations participating in various cultural programs

In 2020, she received the honorary golden age (star) sign of the Ministry of Culture for significant contribution to the development and affirmation of Bulgarian culture and national identity.

 24 April 2022 | 7-8pmpm | Petar Naydenov | Director of Allegra Festival &  Academy

Petar Naydenov is a Principal Double Bass in the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and a faculty member at the Zurich University of the Arts. After completing his studies with the highest distinction in Bulgaria, he was engaged as Solo Double Bass player in the Bulgarian National Radio Chamber Orchestra.

Today Petar is also the Artistic Director of the Allegra Festival and Academy, which began its existence in 2014 in Ruse, Bulgaria. Every year, in July the Academy provides an excellent opportunity for communication between audiences, students, and world-class distinguished teachers and performers.

Yordan Kamdzhalov | Music Director & Chief Conductor.

Charismatic and inspiring, and a great communicator, Maestro Kamdzhalov has been compared in the international press to conducting legends such as Toscanini and Celibidake,  described as "one of the brightest conductors of his generation", "the magician on the console", "a philosopher between conductors ", and " a giant and an ascet ".

The founder of the Historical Park Ivelin Mihailov was born on August 30, 1977 in the town of Gorna Oryahovitsa. He has been actively involved in entrepreneurship since 2003. Father of three children. 9 and a half years ago he had the idea to do something useful for Bulgaria. The idea for the creation of the Historical Park is his and was born in 2011. The main goal of the project is to change the way foreigners perceive Bulgarians and Bulgaria, as well as the way Bulgarians perceive themselves

25 April 2021 | 6-7pm | Anthony Christov | “Finding Nemo” Art Director & ARC Academy co-founder

Anthony Hristov has worked in film and animation in Hollywood for over 30 years, the last 18 of which as an art director at Pixar. His experience as a teacher consists of 12 years of evening teaching at AAU (Academy of Art San Francisco) and 8 years at CCA (California College of the Arts). In 2017, Anthony co-founded the IDEA Academy in Italy, Rome, and is now transferring his experience to Bulgaria, where he and his partners founded the ARC Academy.

Milena Neyova| The founder of  “Hug Me” 

Milena Neyova is the founder of the charity “Hug Me”.

The "Hug Me" art studio is located in Sofia, Bulgaria and was founded in 2005. For over 15 years the studio is a place where  disadvantaged children can express their artistic nature through painting, reading, and creating beautiful art. Through the creation of art the kids learn that people are never alone and the good always prevails.

Milen Vrabevski

Dr Milen Vrabevski is a creator, innovator, entrepreneur and artist. He is chairman of the Bulgarian Memory Foundation and has numerous awards, including: The doctors we trust - 2020 Man of the Year - 2019 Honorary citizen of the city of Varna - 2017 Apostle of the Bulgarian language - 2016 and others
