The Bulgarian Cultural and Social Association “Rodina” aims to promote and preserve Bulgarian culture, traditions, and language among the Bulgarian community in NSW.  Since its founding on the 10th of March 1978, “Rodina” has pursued this goal by fostering knowledge and understanding of Bulgarian culture and history by organizing social events, expositions, forums, performances, and other public initiatives.  We seek to strengthen the social, economic, educational, and cultural ties between Australia and Bulgaria.  Therefore, maintaining a close relationship with Australian organizations and institutions in Australia is of significant importance to us.  We are part of a diverse Australia and we are willing to enrich its multicultural life.  The Bulgarian Cultural and Social Association “Rodina” collaborates and co-operates with other Bulgarian organizations in Australia.

Our Projects

The Focus of Our Efforts

Language School

The main aim of the Bulgarian Language School is to develop the main language skills of speaking and listening reading and writing and to foster a love of language and culture by providing programs that include traditions and customs. The school is committed to providing programs approved by the Department of Education which build on what students know, as well as taking into account different ways and rates of learning.

Traditional Dance Group

Bulgarian Rhythms is a Sydney based dance group offering classes in traditional Bulgarian dancing. People of all ages and cultural backgrounds are welcome!
No previous experience is required. The advanced dancers perform at various events such as Bulgarian cultural events, weddings, and multicultural festivals.
Our motto is Tradition, Joy, and Movement.
We often organise picnics, live music parties, and weekend getaways.

Together we grow

Community Events

2020 was a very challenging year for all of humanity, however, it was a good year to evaluate and see what really matters in our lives. We came closer to the people we care about, and we spend more time being together. It was a challenging year for our community too, but we were able to rise above all challenges and come into 2021 stronger, full of energy, and ready for action.
